Telenet - Telco Cloud Engineer (01/04/2022 - now)

The TelCo Cloud Team at Telenet is currently undertaking a project to develop a self-service portal for its telco cloud customers. Central to this initiative is the automation of baremetal machine rollouts using Metal As A Service (MAAS). This system dynamically adapts to customer requirements, ensuring optimal resource provisioning and management.

To achieve this, the team is leveraging custom Kubernetes Operators to create and manage clusters within Google Anthos. The primary internal customer, the broadband team, will use the self-service portal to seamlessly onboard 5G CNF onto Kubernetes. This critical component enables Telenet to provide telco cloud customers with a comprehensive, adaptable solution for managing their resources and services.

In the TelCo environment, the project emphasizes accelerated networking through SRIOV and DPDK. These technologies are vital for optimizing network performance, reducing latency, and supporting the demanding requirements of telco cloud applications.

Proximus - OpenShift Engineer (01/04/2019 – 31/03/2022)

As a member of the OpenShift Engineering team at Proximus, I assumed responsibility for the architecture, installation, and upgrading of OpenShift clusters. I was also instrumental in creating comprehensive operational documentation to ensure seamless deployment and maintenance processes.

In addition to these tasks, I played a crucial role in guiding developers on the effective adoption of DevOps practices. By leveraging OpenShift as a robust build and deployment platform, I facilitated the implementation of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. This empowered development teams to streamline their workflows, increase deployment frequency, and enhance the overall quality of their software solutions.

Proximus - NTS Operations (01/06/2017 - 01/04/2019)

As a member of the IN operations team, I took on the responsibility of ensuring the continuous operation of two critical platforms that managed a range of essential telephony services. These services included all 0800, 0900, 07x numbers, emergency calls, and other vital services. In this role, I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams to monitor system performance, quickly identify issues, and implement effective solutions to maintain uninterrupted service. My proactive approach and attention to detail played a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring reliable communication for all users.

Additionally, I developed a highly effective preventive maintenance solution that seamlessly integrates with Splunk and various scripts. This innovation streamlined the team's basic tasks and automated routine operations, significantly improving efficiency and reducing manual effort. By leveraging data analytics and automation, I was able to predict potential issues before they escalated, thereby enhancing the overall stability of the platforms. This solution not only improved operational efficiency but also allowed the team to focus on more strategic initiatives, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.

Telenet - Tester (01/07/2016 – 01/03/2017)

As a member of the DAWN testing team, I was responsible for the meticulous execution of both manual and automated tests on the cutting-edge Set-Top Box (STB) developed by Liberty Global. Our team's exhaustive testing efforts ensured the optimal performance of the STB upon its launch in Austria, Czech Republic, and Poland. By utilizing Telenet's in-house developed automated testing tool, I was able to conduct thorough and efficient tests, identifying and addressing potential issues before the product reached the market. This rigorous testing process was crucial in guaranteeing a seamless user experience for customers across these countries.

One of our significant achievements was the successful launch of the DAWN set-top box in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland. The comprehensive manual and automated testing strategies we employed played a pivotal role in this success. Through manual testing, we simulated real-world scenarios to ensure the device's reliability and functionality. Concurrently, automated testing allowed us to perform repetitive and complex tasks with precision and speed, increasing our overall testing efficiency. These efforts collectively ensured that the set-top box met Liberty Global's high standards of quality and performance, leading to a successful market introduction.
